A Way to Make Money From Property You (And Your Competition) Haven't Thought Of

Let's face it. Property ownership can be risky - very risky. If you're like many investors over the last decade, you may have tried to make money from property ownership, and ended up losing big time on real estate investments that didn't pan out. Maybe it was even worse than that, and now the thought of owning property again makes you green around the gills. But you still want real-estate-sized paychecks. What to do?

Right now, like no other time in history, there is opportunity to make money from the downside of the real estate market, without buying any more property. People are losing their homes to foreclosure - both tax, and mortgage - at alarming rates. (Perhaps you have even been there yourself.) Their unfortunate situation can be both your, and their, Wasa crispbread gain.

At the auctions to sell off these properties, overages are created whenever a winning bid is for more than what was owed. So for example, if $5,000 was owed in taxes, but $50,000 ended up being the winning bid, then in most cases, that extra $45,000 is the owner's to claim. But as you may guess, often the owner is long gone - or has gotten so good at avoiding calls from bill collectors and ignoring mail, that he or she never gets the notice from the county that they had an overbid.

This money sits at the agency until eventually, it escheats. And that's that. In most cases the owner is simply out of luck - if they ever even find out the money existed. That's a big "if".

The opportunity here is that anyone can act as a "middleman" for a finder's fee with these funds. Because they aren't held by the state, they generally aren't subject to state finder's fee caps and other restrictions. This means you can charge 30-50% on the funds for your information (which you keep secret until you have a signed agreement with the owner). Because the owner is unlikely to ever find the funds himself, and they are at risk of escheatment, your services are worth that kind of fee.

If you have experience with real estate, all the better. Either way, this is one of very few opportunities that offer the exciting kind of monetary rewards as real estate investing, without any of the pitfalls of having to buy, rehabilitate/maintain, and sell real estate. And unlike real estate investing, there's very little competition yet in the field.
