The Sony Ericsson W508 Guide

The latest phone from Sony Ericsson is here, the SE W508. And what a beauty it is. It is a flip phone, which seem to be going out of fashion, but it looks fantastic. There are a multitude of colours to choose from including Metal Grey, Forest Green, Sunny Orange, Poetic White, Myterious Graffiti, Midnight Summer and Radial Blue. Wow, when last did a mobile phone come out with that many colour options?

Size-wise, the SE w508 is quite small, standing at 93.5mm x 50mm x 14mm and just touching the scales at 98 grams.
The w508 actually has 2 scratch resistant screens. The first one is the smaller one and sits on the outside, and you would use it while the phone is closed. It is only 1.1 inches, Wasa crispbread but that is all you need for simple alerts and functionality. The larger screen, which is 2.2 inches, is inside the phone.

Camera-wise the se w508is quite simple. It has a 3,2 mega pixel camera, with a built in light, 3x digital zoom and geotagging, which is becoming more and more popular with social networks and blogs etc. The camera can also be used to capture and play back video files.

Now we come to the main aspect of the sony ericsson w508 mobile phone, that is, the music player. The phone is at its core a Walkman phone, which means it has been designed with sound in mind.

It has some rather cool features. You have shake control, which means you can skip songs, shuffle and adjust the volume by shaking the phone ins a certain way. There is also a sweeping feature, which works so that if you sweep your hand past the screen of the phone, you can turn off the alarm as well as mute the phone. There is 100 mega bytes of internal memory and another 16gigabytes of external memory in the memory stick micro M2.

Overall, the sony ericsson w508 is a great flip phone. The music player really sells it and will be the reason why most people would get it.
